Newport Mansions &

Johnny's at the Wyndham

June 13, 2023

Raymond Recreation will be offering a trip to the Newport Rhode Island Mansions.  Join us for a trip into exceptional elegance and inspiration in architecture, art, interior design and landscapes. We will visit two of the great mansions, the Marble House and the Breakers.  The Marble House was built in 1892; it was a social and architectural landmark that set the pace for Newport’s transformation from a quiet summer colony of wooden houses to the legendary resort of opulent stone palaces.  The Breakers, built in 1895, is the grandest of Newport’s summer “cottages”.  Both houses are handicapped accessible.  There is approximately 45 minutes to one hour of walking per house.

We’ll enjoy lunch at Johnny’s at the Wyndham (around12:30 pm).  Luncheon includes a choice of First Course: either Salad or Chowder and choice of Second Course: Fish & Chips, Pasta Bolognese, Chicken Piccata, or Baked Stuffed Scrod & Chocolate Cake for dessert.  Coffee, hot tea and iced tea are included.

The coach bus will leave Raymond at 8:00 am and return around 7:08 pm.  The cost for this trip, which includes coach bus transportation, tour of two mansions, lunch and gratuities (including wait staff and coach driver), is $97 for Raymond seniors (age 60 or over), $102 for non-resident seniors and adult Raymond residents.  Non-resident adults pay $107.  We will make a quick stop for coffee on the way down and dinner/dessert on the way home.  We must have a minimum of 30 to hold this trip.

BUS REGULATIONS:  Registrants must sit in the same seat(s) on the bus on the return trip as they sat in on the departure.  For courtesy sake, you are only allowed to save your own seat and one other.  Cancellation Policy:  To receive a full refund, you must call to cancel at least 7 days before the trip; there is a 50% refund for cancellations after the 7 days but at least 48 hours before the trip.  Cancellations with less than 48 hours will not be refunded.  Full refunds will be issued if we must cancel a trip.
