Pickleball

March 27 - May 9

Wednesdays & Thursdays

Raymond Recreation is offering a 6-week session of pickleball for adults & seniors.  Pickleball will be held from 6 – 8 pm on Wednesday & Thursday evenings from March 27 – May 9.

 

What is pickleball you ask??  It’s like a combination of tennis and ping pong.  An added bonus!  you’ll have so much fun you won’t notice you’re getting a great workout.  Beginners welcome.

 

This program will be at the Raymond Middle School Gym on Wednesday & Thursday evenings.  You can bring your own paddle, or we will have some for people to use.  The fee for this 6-week program is $30.  Pre-registration is required.

Adult  Basketball

March 6 – June 12

Wednesdays

 

Raymond Recreation will be offering an adult basketball program.  This is a pick-up program (we do not have a league or set teams).  The session will run from March 6 through June 12 (no basketball on 4/24). This program meets on Wednesday evenings from 8:00pm to 10:00pm at the Gove Middle School Gym. 

 

The fee for the 14-week season is $30. You must have a Rec waiver on file to participate.  Sign-in sheets will be on-hand each week, please remember to sign-in.

Adult 21+ Basketball

March 10 – June 16

Sundays

 

Raymond Recreation will be offering an adult 21+ basketball program.  This is a pick-up program (we do not have a league or set teams).  The session will run from March 10 through June 16.  No basketball 3/21, 4/21 and 5/26. This program meets on Sunday mornings from 8:00 to 10:00am at the Gove Middle School Gym.  

 

The fee for the 12-week season is $30.  You must register and pay on-line through raymondnh.recdesk.com prior to the start of the session in order to participate.

Perfect For everybody and every body! Each Zumba® class is designed to bring people together to sweat it on.

 

We take the "work" out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the rhythms take over, you'll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise. Super effective? Check. Super fun? Check and check.

 

Benefits:

A total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class.

The  instructor for this class is Talia Walley.  Talia is a Certified Zumba Instructor and has been enjoying Zumba for at least the past 15 years.  Additionally, Talia is a Certified Aerial Yoga Hammock Fitness Instructor and Certified Health & Nutrition Coach with the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute.  She enjoys staying fit & helping others to do so by incorporating these modes of lifestyle.

 

Please wear comfortable clothing and sneakers.  Bring water!  

 

Zumba will be 8 weeks, on Mondays, April 8th – June 3rd (no class on May 27).  The cost is $96 ($12 a class) for the 8 weeks or $14 for walk in. Classes will be held 6 – 8 pm every Monday in the Raymond Middle School cafeteria.

New England Botanic Gardens    

& Brunch @ Cyprian Keyes Golf Club

Join Raymond Recreation for a welcome spring trip to remember!!  We will be having brunch at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club and then visiting the beautiful Botanic Gardens at Tower Hill in Boylston, Massachusetts.  We will be walking through the gardens, please dress appropriately.  There are many benches and seating areas to take a break and enjoy the beauty around you. 

 

Our first stop will be to enjoy a delicious brunch at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club.  Come hungry, our buffet includes, morning pastries, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, Belgian waffles roasted vegetables, baked haddock, roasted turkey, and for dessert pastries, cookies and brownies.

 

Bring your camera!  The New England Botanic Garden features a variety of distinct garden spaces including public woodlands, naturalistic gardens, formal gardens, and conservatories. Each visit is an opportunity to discover something new!  There are many areas to explore both inside and out.  Visit the Garden of Inspiration, Field of Daffodils, the Secret Garden, the Apple Orchard and more.  Check inside the visitor’s center for the Limonaia, Winter Gardens, Gift Shop and restrooms.  We’ll make a stop at Meola’s Wayside Ice Cream for those who want a sweet treat on our way home!

 

The coach bus will leave at 9:00 am and return at 5:00 pm.  The cost for this trip, which includes coach bus transportation, brunch, gardens and all gratuities (including wait staff and coach driver), is $85 for Raymond seniors (are age 60 or over), $90 for non-resident seniors and adults.

 

BUS REGULATIONS:  Registrants must sit in the same seat(s) on the bus on the return trip as they sat in on the departure.  For courtesy sake, you are only allowed to save your own seat and one other.  Cancellation Policy:  To receive a full refund, you must call to cancel at least 7 days before the trip; there is a 50% refund for cancellations after the 7 days but at least 48 hours before the trip.  Cancellations on the day of the trip will not be refunded.  Full refunds will be issued if we must cancel a trip.

Lunch @ the Common Man Claremont

Join Raymond Recreation on Thursday, June 13th as we enjoy lunch at the Common Man in Claremont.  Our buffet lunch includes Rolls, Salad, Baked Haddock, New England Pot Roast, Roasted Potatoes, Fresh Vegetable, Coffee, Tea, Soda and Dessert!  After lunch we will head over to the New London Barn Playhouse for the award winning “Little Shop of Horrors”

 

‘Little Shop of Horrors’ follows Seymour, a hapless florist shop worker, at a run-down flower shop owned by the cranky Mr. Mushnik. After a sudden eclipse of the sun, Seymour finds a mysterious plant that looks like a large venus flytrap. Seymour, who is secretly in love with Audrey, names the plant Audrey II in her honor.  Seymour realizes that Audrey II requires blood to survive. As Audrey II grows, it becomes an attraction at the flower shop and generates business for Mushnik.  When Seymour stops feeding the plant, Audrey II demands blood and promises that, if fed, it will make all of Seymour's dreams come true.

 

The coach bus will leave Raymond at 9:45 am and return at 5:30 pm.  The fee, which includes coach bus transportation, buffet lunch, amazing show, and all gratuities, is $98 for Raymond seniors (age 60 or over), $103 for non-resident seniors and all adults.

Cabbage Island Clambake

Join Raymond Recreation on Tuesday, July 16th as we visit the “World Famous Cabbage Island” in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.  First Stop: Boothbay Harbor where you will have some time to explore the sites and shops.  Second: we’ll travel to the island aboard the Bennie Alice, view the scenic coastline with its charming lighthouses, as well as seals, ospreys and other wildlife.  The Clambake includes chowder, 2 lobsters (or ½ chicken), steamed clams, Maine potato, corn-on-the-cob, boiled egg, onion, and delicious blueberry cake.  It also includes iced tea, coffee or tea, all other drinks are extra.  Cabbage Island has been the home of traditional clambakes since 1956.  You may want to bring a sweater or jacket, as it can be a little chilly.  Following our feast, you will have a little time to relax or explore the island, then we return to Boothbay Harbor for some quick shopping or just to stretch your legs before boarding the bus.

 

The coach bus will leave Raymond at 8:30 am and return at 8:13 pm.  We will make a quick stop at a rest area on the way there and back.  The cost for this trip, which includes coach bus transportation & driver gratuity, harbor tour, clambake and gratuity is $145 for Raymond Senior residents, $150 for non-resident seniors & adults.  Contact Raymond Rec for a kid’s meal price.
