Raymond D.A.R.E. Program History
The Raymond D.A.R.E. Program began in 1989 being taught by the New Hampshire State Police in the 6th Grade at Iber Holmes Gove Middle School. In 1994 Officer Jon D. Nottonson of the Raymond Police Department took over teaching the curriculum. In 1997 Officer Jonathan P. Kelly began teaching and after a conference with the school's administration it was determined that the curriculum best suited the 5th Grade. Officer Kelly has graduated more than 300 students from the core curriculum and is currently instructing the 1998-1999 5th Grade of 140 students. Graduation for this class will take place at the end of May.
It is the department's goal that the 1999-2000 School Year will mark the first year that the extended curriculum will be taught to 7th grade.
